As per the Government of Alberta and the recommendations set forward by Alberta Health Services, these are the new rules and regulations that all of us at Tyr ITF Taekwon-Do must follow until such a time that alternative advice and rules are provided. All members (or a parent/guardian) must read the following list of rules and sign the form in agreement and email it back to the instructor, or submit it prior to your first class returned to training. Retain a copy as well for your own records so that you are mindful of these as long as you are a member at Tyr Taekwon-Do. You will not be able to resume your training until the form is signed and returned without exception. There will be no special exemptions made for these regulations.
1) The lead instructor on a given evening will be the only one allowed access through the West End Senior Activity Centre's front doors, in order to disarm the alarm system and to unlock necessary areas. Under no circumstances will any other members be allowed access to the building via the front doors.
2) All other members will have to enter the gym via the deck-side entrance.
3) No person(s) will be allowed into the training hall if they have been ill or around anyone who was ill within the prior two weeks. Additionally, prior to being allowed access to the interior of the building, all entrants must view a screening checklist and if the response is "yes" to any of its elements pertaining to any member of the group, entry will be denied until such a time that a physician has given the all-clear in writing, or the two week quarantine window has passed. Members or spectators who WILLFULLY and NEGLIGENTLY withhold said information (ie, they know with certainty that they have been around infected individuals or are themselves ill and attend training regardless) resulting in a diagnosed COVID-19 outbreak that closes our martial arts school or worse, may be subject to disciplinary measures, up to and including but not limited to: membership termination from Tyr ITF Taekwon-Do as well as possible legal action to reclaim lost Tyr income as a result of said willfulness and negligence by that member.
4) Every person who enters the building (training or not) of all ages will have their names recorded in a written log each evening. This is for COVID-19 tracing purposes should an outbreak originate from our school. No exceptions.
5) When entering the building, all entrants must apply hand sanitizer to their hands and non-training spectators will be required to wear masks. Bring your own if you are able, but the club does have a small supply for use if necessary. People who refuse to do so will be asked to wait outside the building. Training members are NOT required to wear a mask as exemptions are made for high intensity workouts as per the GOA and AHS. The head instructor will wear a mask while speaking, lecturing, and correcting techniques and remove the mask for higher octane training segments.
6) All training members are to show up to the location in full uniform for their training time to limit non-essential movement to the washroom areas. It is highly recommended that clothing be worn on top of the uniform in transit to and from the Dojang in order to prevent mud and dirt from staining the dobok. Additionally, the coat room and water fountains are not permitted for use at this time. There will be a floor mat set up by the entrance where all members and guests are to leave their shoes. Shoes are not to be worn on the training floor by any member or their spectating guests. Coats are to be left with training bags. Bring your own water bottles with you, though keep in mind that drinking rules in the Dojang are the same as for the water fountain.
7) Close socialization groups of less than 2 meter distancing will not be permitted for any member with the exception of those members from the same household.
8) In order to encourage social distancing and to keep numbers down in the gym, non-training members are asked NOT to wait around in the gym and to bring as few non-training members to attend where possible. However, if it is absolutely necessary to remain, chairs will be set up in the gym at appropriate 2 meter social distances. During a class, noisy and disrespectful spectators will be asked to leave. Loitering in the water fountain area will not be permitted for anyone, and washroom access will only be granted by necessity, not for recreational socialization.
9) If any members or a member of their family has been tested positive for COVID-19 after a Tyr training date, this information will be passed along to the West End Senior's Activity Centre (and vice versa). At that point, all training for the school will be suspended pending investigation. A procedure will then be determined by the WSAC based on Alberta Health Services to find a 'return to training date' for the school.
10) The training experience will be modified in order to take into account social distancing and health regulations at this time. This includes a larger focus on solo training and modified versions of partner exercises to take into account these social distancing rules. Students will be spaced apart 2 meters at all times during the lineups and exercises. Should numbers be large enough to warrant it, classes may be split into time segments (decision to be made based on numbers). All training equipment that has been used by members will be sanitized by the members that used them through the use of sanitizing wipes supplied by Tyr.
11) All members are to leave via the deck doors only. After all members have left, the instructor will do a final sweep and exit the way that they entered.
12) A detailed clean-up will be conducted by an outside agency after our training evenings. This does increase the rental fee for the month for the club, however, monthly dues over the summer for members are NOT affected.
